Frequently asked questions

Are you a carrier or an employer?

No. Better Today is an independent recruiting company. We introduce drivers to carriers that are hiring. The carrier makes the hiring decision and is your employer if you are hired.

Does it cost me anything?

No. Carriers pay us when a driver we introduce starts. We never charge drivers. If anyone claiming to be us asks you for money, do not pay and call us.

Which carriers do you work with?

Several. After a short call about what you want, we tell you which ones fit you and what each offers. You choose. We do not name carriers in advertising because each carrier sets its own terms and we confirm them with you directly.

How fast will someone call me?

Forms sent Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM Central are usually answered the same business day. Forms sent later are answered the next business morning. You can also call or text (307) 218-3831.

What do I need to get started?

A valid Class A CDL (or a permit with school finished for new-driver programs), a few minutes, and the last three years of work history. Requirements vary by carrier.

Are the pay numbers guaranteed?

No. Pay figures on our pages are averages or maximums that the carrier reports. Your pay depends on the lane, miles, schedule and your own performance. We confirm the current terms in writing before you apply.

Is the job a company-driver (W-2) job?

Most listings are company-driver jobs. Lease and owner-operator listings are marked. Each page says which one it is.

Can I get a job with a past ticket, accident or DUI?

It depends on how long ago, how many and which carrier. Rules differ widely. We ask honestly on the call so we only send you where you can be hired.

Will I need to take a drug test?

Yes. Carriers require a DOT drug screen, and some use a hair test as well. We tell you which one before you apply.

Can I bring a pet or a rider?

Some carriers allow pets or riders under specific rules and some do not. Each job page lists what the carrier allows when it is known.

How long until I start?

It varies by carrier. Application, background check and drug screen often take days, then you attend orientation on the carrier's schedule. We tell you the timeline for each option.

Do you share my information?

Only with carriers you agree to be introduced to. We do not sell your information. See our Privacy Policy.

What if the job is not what was described?

Tell us. We follow up with you during your first weeks, and we raise problems with the carrier. Feedback from drivers decides which carriers we keep working with.

How do I stop texts or calls?

Reply STOP to any text, or tell a recruiter you do not want to be contacted. We honor requests right away.
