The job
The combo position is exclusively on the PM side and is a mix of local deliveries and jockey work. Driver should expect to do both equally. The combo drivers may also be asked to go to another the customer, in a company tractor, to utilize their yard truck to cover for PM jockey call offs at other facilities. the customer is a Monday through Friday operation with Saturday’s as volume permits. Drivers sign up for one Saturday approx. every 12 weeks, but may volunteer for more. the customer loads are typically 1 to 3 stops, rarely 4 stops. Good to know
- All the customer’s have tenured shipping teams that provide excellent communication to our on site dispatchers as well as to the drivers. The deliveries, backhauls, and additional outs are relatively predictable daily. The dispatchers assigned to each location are always available along with the operations supervisor for the account.
- No, dispatchers typically converse with potential new hires when they show up on site for their road test.
Keep in mind: For this role, they are likely to fail if they expect this to be all or mostly jockey work, or all or mostly local. If they are not willing to jockey when needed, or want exclusively jockey work and do not want to drive, this is not the role for them. If they have an “I don’t care” attitude, have poor communication & attendance, unsafe, and do not treat operations staff and fellow drivers with the same respect they too are owed.

Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- 6+ months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience
- At least 21 years old
- Current DOT medical card and a clean drug screen
- Driving record: no more than 2 in the past 3 years
