The job

Regional drivers leave out the day prior to delivery with their load to arrive at the consignee or a truck stop nearby with enough time to take their 10 hours off. Delivery is then made the following day, on time. Unload is typically by a lumper service and can range in unload times from an hour to 5 hours (detention paid), depending on the customer delivering to. Most regional loads are to food service customers, hence the lengthy unload, and typically pizza box deliveries. Good to know

• All the customer’s have tenured shipping teams that provide excellent communication to our on site dispatchers as well as to the drivers. The deliveries, backhauls, and additional outs are relatively predictable daily. The dispatchers assigned to each location are always available along with the operations supervisor for the account. Additional home time during the week, as freight allows. Most regional drivers will make it home to take a 10 off one to two nights per week, in addition to being home on the weekends for at least a 34 reset. • No, dispatchers typically converse with potential new hires when they show up on site for their road test.

Keep in mind: If they have an “I don’t care” attitude, have poor communication & attendance, unsafe, and do not treat operations staff and fellow drivers with the same respect they too are owed.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL
• 6+ months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience
• At least 21 years old
• Current DOT medical card and a clean drug screen
• Driving record: no more than 2 in the past 3 years
